Shelton's Downtown Handmade Market continues on First Saturdays

 Downtown Handmade Market, a celebration of handmade artisans, takes place on the First Saturdays of Every Month in the Conti Building on 415 Howe Avenue in Shelton (near Farmer’s Market).

“When we shop local, we are supporting and building opportunities for local entrepreneurs and business owners, strengthening our local economy by creating a more self-reliant and durable community, and empowering citizens to guide the development of our immediate surroundings,” says the Celebrate Shelton duo, Skrtic and Heriot-Mikula.

Downtown Handmade Market will continue on Saturday, April 4 from 10am-5pm. Artisans include: Triangle Tea Life, The Liquid Lunch, Stone Gardens Farm, Spoiled, Bowtique by Alexa, Benny The Baker, Lisa’s Soaps, Bel Mare Creations, Reid's BBQ,  Look and Sea, Bead Dangle Design, GPC Designs, The Little Dog Laughed, BooBoo Bags, Hipponotic Candle, Little Bee of CT, BBA Bracelets and TJJ Sews,  Origami Owl, Lilla Rose as well as  year-round Conti Building shops including bringtheHoopla, The Glass Source Stained Glass Studio, Periodic Tableware, Nikki's Candy Boutique and Shadee Lady Window Treatments and Interior Design.  Our featured non-profit of the month is Moving With HOPE. More artisans to come….!!

Celebrate Shelton has recently announced Downtown Sounds Concert Series which will take place at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Fridays, July 17, July 24 and August 7 from 6-9pm.

Artisans include:  Lisa’s Soaps, The Liquid Lunch, Stone Gardens Farm, Bead Dangle Design, Look and Sea, Hipponotic Candles, M&M Boutique, Lilla Rose, Benny The Baker, Bel-Mare Creations, Greystone Bookworks, Origami Owl Living Lockets, Soul Threads, Moon Rocks Gourmet Cookies, Reid’s BBQ Sauce & Rubs, GPC Designs, Moving with Hope, CrazyFun FacePainting, bringtheHoopla, Periodic Tableware,  The Glass Source Stained Glass Studio and more to come.

Celebrate Shelton has also kicked off Third Thursdays Learning Series, monthly creative workshops designed for small business owners. Workshops are designed for entrepreneurs, seasoned business owners or community members who are seeking new knowledge, to network and to inspire. Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite. This month’s workshop is Twitter Basics presented by Kayleigh Apicerno of Cloud Media Marketing.

SHELTON >> Downtown Handmade Market, a 5-date vendor festival hosted by Celebrate Shelton was held at the Conti Building on 415 Howe Ave. The market kicked off on Black Friday with an overwhelming attendance of over 225 shoppers, continued on Small Business Saturday and the following three Saturdays through December. Over 1,500 people attended throughout the five dates and the market hosted over 60 handmade artisans.

Shelton's Downtown Handmade Market kicks off on Black Friday

SHELTON >> Celebrate Shelton, a city-wide initiative, begun by two small business owners, Michael Skrtic, owner of The Glass Source Studio, and Nicole Heriot-Mikula, owner of bringtheHoopla have joined together to form Celebrate Shelton, which will present 3 major events to highlight small business and the community which surrounds them: Downtown Handmade Market, Community Tree Lighting and the Small Business “Crawl” event guide.

Downtown Handmade Market, a 5-date vendor festival, will be held at the Conti Building on 415 Howe Ave., Shelton. A Black Friday Kick-Off celebration on Friday, Nov. 28 from 6-9 p.m. will be sponsored by Liquid Lunch and wine from Linda’s Liquors in Shelton. Celebration will include handmade artisan vendors, live music, hors d’oeuvres and a wine tasting. All vendors will feature a special offer during this kick-off event. Tickets are $5 at the door. Kids 14 and under are no cost.

The market continues on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 29 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Dec. 6, 13 and 20 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is free.

Community Tree Lighting sponsored by Webster Bank, Valley Community Foundation and Center Stage will be taking place on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Park, 83 Canal Street East, in Shelton. Caroling with Center Stage, hot cocoa and sweets by the Boys & Girls Club of LNV and Santa Claus will be there for everyone. A huge special thank you to Jones Family Farms and City of Shelton. All children are encouraged to create their own handmade ornaments to hang on the tree with their families on the evening of the lighting.

Our Small Business Crawl event guide is a 24 page glossy magazine that will include a special offer from all participating small businesses throughout the month of December. The goal is to encourage our community to shop local! Keep an eye out in Shelton for your very own guide.
