ANSONIA- An "At the Hop" Fundraiser will be held from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Oct. 5 at Assumption Church Hall, 66 N. Cliff St. to benefit the Master;s Table Community Meals program.

Ticket donation is $20, with proceeds helping the nonprofit program provide free meals to low income families, homeless, working poor or anyone in the Valley in need of a good meal.

The public is invited to attend, which will feature a cabaret style. Those who attend can bring their own snacks and beverages. Entertainment will be provided by Dick DeLibro and Paula Pettinella, who'll be bringing the sounds of Sinatra, Bobby Darin and Mowtown.

Community meal slated at Ansonia church

ANSONIA - Master's Table Community Meals will present its fourth annual 'Cook In' from 4-5:30 p.m. July 27 at Christ Episcopal Church, 56 S. Cliff St.

The menu will feature traditional cookout fare.

The dinner is free but donations are graciously accepted, organizers say. All donation proceeds pay for the meals and allows the nonprofit organization to offer them free of charge.

The monthly meal serves the entire Valley and provides food and fellowship to those in need. The organization has been providing free community meals since February 2011.

Santa, Mrs. Claus, volunteers make season bright

ANSONIA >> On Sunday I attended a Master's Table community meal at Christ Episcopal Church and was impressed with the caring shown by all the volunteers.

The youngest volunteer I met, Zavier Desrosiers of Ansonia, told me he will turn 9 on Thursday, and there were several senior citizens there as well as every age in between.

The volunteers deserve to be commended for giving of their time one Sunday a month to help others.

And kudos go to Jim Fedak and his wife, Janette Feltz-Fedak, who founded the organization and have worked hard to make it a success. Jim Fedak said the number of people they serve continues to grow.

As you can see Sunday's dinner had a Christmas theme. Children and adults all received a wrapped gift from Santa.

The nonprofit is seeking volunteers for the next two dinners, slated for Jan. 26 and Feb. 23.
