Nature Center Collecting Empty TP and Paper Towel Tubes

ANSONIA - The Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center is in need of empty toilet paper and paper towel tubes for a huge craft project they'll be doing in honor of MLK Jr. Day, Jan. 21, at the Peabody Museum. Items can be dropped at the Nature Center no later than Jan. 18 (the earlier, the better), 10 Deerfield Lane. For more information call 203-736-1053.

ANSONIA - A program to celebrate the legacy of slain civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was held Monday at Greater Evangel Temple, Church of God in Christ.

Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday.

Ansonia Mayor David S. Cassetti said 'today we carry on (King's) fight for equality.'

Church in Ansonia to host program honoring King

           ANSONIA - The Ansonia Branch #2000 of the NAACP will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at noon Monday with a program at the Evangel Temple Church of God in Christ, 38 Jackson St.

            The Rev. Kenneth Moales, Jr. will be keynote speaker. Moales is the pastor of the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bridgeport. 

Elder Edward Barnes, pastor of Evangel Temple, will conduct the service and the Rev. Valerie Manness of Clinton A. M. E. Zion Church in Ansonia will participate.

All who honor the ideals of Dr. King are welcome to join the celebration. 

Light refreshments will follow in the church hall.

Ansonia event to celebrate legacy of MLK

ANSONIA - The Annual Martin Luther King Conference will present "Visions of the Dream," a celebration of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The free event will be held at noon Jan. 21, Martin Luther King Jr., Day, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 243 Pershing Drive.

The public is invited. There will be information provided for children and adults, entertainment, and exhibits.
Refreshments will be served.
