Valley residents making the season bright

On Thursday I covered two heartwarming stories in Ansonia that underscore the true meaning of the Yuletide season.

Mekenzie Revere of Ansonia

At Assumption School an adorable kindergartner, Mekenzie Revere of Ansonia, who is turning six years old today, is showing us all that she has already learned the true meaning of the season. She was recently hospitalized and she is thinking of other children in the hospital at this time of year and giving to them.
Who doesn't like snowmen?

At Emmett O'Brien Technical High School, I attended the fourth annual holiday dinner for senior citizens and clients of area nonprofits.

O'Brien math teacher Nancy Iannuzzi created these snowman ornaments for the Christmas tree in the school cafeteria. They were given out to more than 80 party guests.

O'Brien social studies teacher Jim Marrone helps Christy Petion, 4, choose an ornament from the tree at the party Thursday.

Stay tuned to the paper for a story about the festivities.
