SEYMOUR >> The harsh hand being dealt by Mother Nature this winter has
pretty much depleted the town’s snow plowing budget.
That’s why the Board of Selectmen needs to hold a town meeting next month to
get residents’ approval to transfer more than $120,000 from the town’s general
fund into the Public Works budget.
First Selectman Kurt Miller apprised the selectmen during its meeting Tuesday
that the 2014-15 budget for snow removal materials, including salt and sand, has
been exceeded by $103,000. The budget for labor costs, which includes plenty of
overtime as many of the recent snowstorms have occurred on weekends, has been
exceeded by $23,000, Miller said.
