St. Mary-St. Michael School in Derby honors veterans

Through song, poems, prayer

Students in St. Mary-St. Michael School chorus sing at Friday's Veterans Day program.

DERBY - I attended a patriotic program Friday at St. Mary-St. Michael School to mark Veterans Day.
Monday is Veterans Day and it is a school holiday. The students all performed admirably, singing and reading and showing respect.

Below are some photos from the annual event.

Music teacher Karolina Wojteczko accompanies the chorus on piano.

Sixth grader Sofia Soriano reads a poem.

Veterans of Foreign Wars' McEvoy-Dempsey Post 10585 Commander Raymond Gagne of Derby speaks to students.

U.S. Army veterans James Hubbard, left, of Ansonia and Erwin "Gus" Williams of Derby participate in the program.
