OXFORD– Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut has opened a new 11,000-square-foot store and donation station at 274 Oxford Road in Oxford, marking the first retail outlet to open at Quarry Walk – Oxford’s Towne Center located on Route 67. During its grand opening weekend, the new store welcomed more than 1,300 customers who took advantage of one-of-a-kind finds such as apparel for the family, home décor, electronics, furniture and more. In addition, hundreds of donors appreciated the Oxford store’s covered drive-thru donation station with attendants on hand to help unload donations from vehicles and provide a tax receipt for their contribution.

To commemorate its grand opening, the new Goodwill Oxford held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 21, 2016 that featured local dignitaries and community leaders including First Selectman George Temple, State Representative David Labriola, and Tom Haynes, Owner/Developer of Quarry Walk. Doors opened at 9:00 a.m., and the first 75 customers enjoyed a $5 Goodwill gift card. Additional opening day specials included a free reusable shopping bag with any purchase and an opportunity to enter to win a $200 Goodwill shopping spree.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the Oxford community and excited to be anchoring one of the town’s historic shopping districts,” said Vickie Volpano, President, Goodwill of Western & Northern Connecticut. “When Goodwill builds a new location, we also help build the community. Our goal is to contribute to the success of the local community offering residents great employment opportunities, job training and mentoring.”

The new Goodwill Oxford store will employ more than 40 people from the surrounding community and boasts more than 8,100 square-feet of retail space. The store is still hiring and interested applicants should visit www.gwct.org to complete the online application. This marks the 19th Goodwill store to open in western and northern Connecticut.
