As an Ansonia resident I just received a Code Red alert phone call.
It said in part:
Road crews have been working around the clock and the goal is to open all roads in the city by the end of the day. Widening the roads will take several days.
Residents are asked "to please limit driving on city roads." The parking ban has been extended until further notice.
All city buildings, including schools, will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
Residents are reminded to keep furnace vents clear.
The city urges people "to try and help elderly residents with prescription refills and food supplies."
The city is employing outside contractors to assist in the plowing and has requested plowing assistance from the state. Residents face "severe fines" for throwing snow into the road.
The city received over 30 inches of snow, more than the amount that fell during the Blizzard of '78.
Emergency crews have been witnessing neighbors helping neighbors.
A great resource for information in "The Valley" - Connecticut's Naugatuck Valley
