Girl, 7, treated after being hit by car in Derby

By Register Staff
DERBY — A 7-year-old girl was struck by a slow-moving car on Emmett Avenue Monday afternoon, and the child suffered scrapes, police said.
Lt. Sal Frosceno said the accident happened at about 2:30 p.m. Monday. The car, a Nissan Sentra, had just stopped at an intersection, and the operator resumed driving and struck the girl as she entered the roadway from behind a parked vehicle, according to Frosceno.
“The operator had no chance to see her, thankfully the driver was traveling at a very slow speed,” Frosceno said.
The child was treated at the scene, and then transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital as a precaution, police said.
No action was taken against the driver.
