Shelton cops seek man who robbed convenience store

By Register Staff
SHELTON — Police are searching for a male suspect responsible for a robbery Saturday morning at a local Cumberland Farms store.
Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said the robbery happened at about 5 a.m., and police responded to the store at 464 River Road.
According to police, a 22-year-old male employee arrived to work at the store that morning. The employee began getting the store ready when he noticed a male in all dark clothing standing outside the door. The male had a bandana covering part of his face.
The employee became suspicious so he tried to lock the door, but the male forced his way inside the store, according to police. The male put some type of object to the employee’s back and demanded to go to the safe. The employee opened the safe and the male took an undetermined amount of cash, Kozlowsky said.
The male robber took the employee outside of the store, where he slammed the employee’s head into a Dumpster several times and then punched him, according to police.
The robber then left the area. The male suspect is described as being approximately 40-45 years old, 6 feet tall, with a medium build, dark eyes and olive skin.
The employee was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment and released later Saturday.
Police are asking anyone with any information to call the detective bureau at (203) 924-1544.
