Therapy dogs, teen movies, women's forum planned at Derby Neck Library

DERBY - Derby Neck Library, 307 Hawthorne Ave., presents Tech Talks focusing on Overdrive at 10:30 a.m. May 15.

Overdrive is a free website that allows a library patron to download e-books to electronic readers and tablets.

A staff member will guide you through the process and answer questions.
Seating is limited; register by calling 203-734-1492.
B.A.R.K.
From 6-7 p.m. May 15 the Library will host B.A.R.K. (Be a Reading Kid) with therapy dogs Thor and Cosmo, two St. Bernards.
Register your child to have a 15-minute reading session with these dogs.

Writers' Round
From 6:30-7:30 p.m. May 16 Writers’ Round will meet. This is a creative writing workshop that meets each month and offers input and ideas for writers in all genres—poetry, prose, film, script-writing, etc.

B.A.R.K.
From 3-4 p.m. May 19 the Library will again host B.A.R.K. (Be a Reading Kid) with therapy dog Jake.  Register your child to read in a 15-minute session.
Women's Forum
From 12:30-1:30 p.m. May 20 the Library will host the Women’s Forum. This monthly discussion group focuses on issues and ideas important to all women. This month we discuss the concept of mothers and daughters.
The moderator will bring in relevant literature and participants are asked to bring in ideas to share.  Bring a light lunch; coffee and tea provided.

Teen Movie Night
From 6-7:45 p.m. May 21 teens and 'tweens are invited for Teen Movie Night.  This month’s feature is the frightening new film, MAMA, starring Jessica Chastain.
Free snacks and free pizza supper will be provided.  Bring your friends for a fun night.

Art exhibit planned
The Library will open an art exhibit May 23 from clients of the BHcare in Ansonia.
Visit the reading room exhibit area to view these art pieces, as the library recognizes National Mental Health Services month.
