Book talk, games slated for teens at Derby library

Summer Reading Club offers activities
DERBY - The Derby Public Library hosts a book discussion series for patrons ages 12 to 17.
Participants will meet at 3:30 p.m. July 10 to review Mindblind  by Jennifer Roy.
The book is about 14-year-old Nathaniel, a profoundly gifted Asperger’s student. He thinks of himself as “mindblind”: he cannot always guess what other people are thinking. After college he plans to become an “official genius.”
His story presents a unique perspective illuminating the mind of a gifted person while showing the humor of Nathaniel’s quirky existence. Light refreshments will be provided.
Copies will be available at the circulation desk while they last. Reservations may be made by phone, 203-736-1481, or online.
This program is part of the Derby Public Library 2013 “Beneath the Surface” Teen Summer Reading Club. Registration is requested.

'YA Wednesdays'
The Library hosts “YA Wednesdays” from 6-7:30 p.m. July 10, 17, 24, and 31.
All young adults ages 12 to 17 are invited to a triple-play of activities - Teen Game Night, Lego Construction Project, and a return of last summer’s Battleship Tournament - each offered on sequential Wednesdays.
This program is part of the Derby Public Library 2013 “Beneath the Surface” Teen Summer Reading Club. Light refreshments will be provided. Registration is requested.
For information about any program, stop by the Library at 313 Elizabeth St., call 203-736-1482 or visit www.derbypubliclibrary.org.
