Griffin in Derby offers end-of-life planning assistance

DERBY - In recognition of National Healthcare Decision Day, Griffin Hospital will provide free information on end-of-life planning from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday  in the hospital’s Dining Room.

Griffin staff will provide assistance on making advance directives or a living will and how to discuss end-of-life treatment with your physician and family.

According to The Pew Research Center, 42 percent of Americans have had a friend or relative suffer from a terminal illness or coma in the last five years, and for a majority of these people, the issue of withholding life sustaining treatment came up.

National Healthcare Decisions Day exists to inspire, educate and empower the public about the importance of advance care planning.
National Healthcare Decisions Day encourages patients to express their wishes regarding healthcare and for providers and facilities to respect those wishes.

This is a press release from Griffin Hospital.
