DERBY - The Derby Public Library
Chess Club invites all young adults ages 12 to 17 to “Open Chess Call” from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Mondays in August.
All skill levels are welcome.

Summer matinees
The Library
hosts Teen Summer Movie Matinees for patrons ages 12 to 17 from 1-3 p.m. Tuesdays,
Aug. 6 and 13.
Lunch will be provided by the Summer Food Program, which is administered by the Connecticut Department of Education Child Nutrition Unit & the USDA.
Participants will have the opportunity to vote on subsequent film titles to be shown. This program is part of the Derby Public Library 2013 “Beneath the Surface” Teen Summer Reading Club. Registration is required.

The Library
hosts a book discussion series for patrons ages 12 to 17. Participants
will meet Aug. 7, at 3:30 p.m. to review

Doug Swieteck sees only the negatives of his move to a new town. Doug’s father & brothers often take their anger out on Doug. Despite Doug’s family problems, he finds his own place in town and discovers his strengths and talents with the help of some unlikely friends.
Copies will be available at the circulation desk while they last and reservations may be made by phone or on-line. Light refreshments will be provided. This program is part of the Derby Public Library 2013 “Beneath the Surface” Teen Summer Reading Club.

YA Wednesdays
The Library will hosts “YA Wednesdays” from 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 7 and 14.
All young adults ages 12 to 17 are invited to a variety of activities: Teen Game Night, Lego Construction Project, and a return of last summer’s Battleship Tournament, each offered on sequential Wednesdays.
Light refreshments will be provided.
