Hike at Ansonia nature center to focus on amphibians

ANSONIA - A guided hike focusing on the amphibians and vernal pools at the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center will be held at 1 p.m. April 21.

This program will be of special interest to Scouts, school interns and youth groups.
Participants will learn about amphibians and the vernal pools they inhabit.

Vernal pools, which are temporary ponds scattered throughout the woodland of the nature center, are one of the smallest yet most interesting and ecologically important types of wetlands.

They play an important role in the lives of amphibians, including wood frogs and spotted salamanders.

Call 203-736-1053 to register for this free program.
