Derby library to host talk on history of Valley fire service

DERBY - The Derby Public Library has scheduled a presentation, "History of the Fire Service in the Naugatuck Valley," at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
          Shelton resident Rob Novak, Jr., local historian, will look at the fire organizations, people, equipment, and events which helped define and shape the Valley and its fire companies and departments of today. 

        Novak, a popular presenter at the Library, has specialized in presenting local history in fun, interactive formats for more than20 years. He is past director of the Derby Historical Society and City of Shelton’s Municipal Historian.

        In addition, he has authored four books and has been a popular historical columnist.
