Derby Public Library slates free driver class for veterans

DERBY - The Derby Public Library has scheduled a free AARP Driver Safety Class
for all veterans, regardless of age, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 12.
            This includes individuals who serve or have served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard/Reserves, or Coast Guard. 
          In addition, veterans’ spouses, domestic partners, dependents, children, and widows and widowers, regardless of age, may receive the free course also.
         Veterans Day is Nov. 11.
         All eligible participants must present a completed coupon to the Library at the time of registration. Coupons are available for download at www.aarp.org/veterans or at the Library.  All required fields must be filled out. No additional identification is necessary.     
Participants will tune up their driving skills and update their knowledge of the
rules of the road.
         They will also learn defensive driving techniques. No written tests, no road tests, and no information will be given to the Department of Motor Vehicles. 
       Participants may save up to 10 percent on their present auto liability insurance.  Space is
limited and registration is required.  Participants may bring a bag lunch.  Coffee and
dessert will be provided. 
The AARP Driver Safety Program and Derby Public Library are proud to offer this free course to recognize and thank veterans for their dedication and commitment to service.
