AJ Jansen to perform in Seymour |
SEYMOUR - Kimberly Dulka, owner of The All-American Valley General Store, has announced the next Strand Ole Opry will be held at 7:30 p.m. June 21 at the Strand Theater.
Dulka has rounded up the best bluegrass, country, and folk musicians from the New England area.
Special guests include AJ Jansen, a country singer from Connecticut and Nashville, who has opened for Phil Vassar and James Montgomery, and was just nominated for "The Best Country Act" from The New England Music Awards.
Also scheduled to perform is West Virginia native Mike Townsend, who has opened for Gordon Lightfoot, played with Rich Danko from The Band and his songs have been featured at The Woody Guthrie Festival.
Townsend dazzles the audience with his ability to play multiple instruments like the banjo, mandolin, harmonica, guitar, jaw bow, the saw - and even a dulcimer he made as a boy living in the Appalachian Mountains.
The Southern rock and roll band The Fabulous Shedman, whose energy gets the audience up dancing on their feet, is also on the bill.
Other musical guests include Tim Remaley, John Hoyt, The Ebin-Rose Trio, and more talented performers that will delight the crowd.

Pre-show BBQ Party at the store at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $12.95 and reservations are required.
An after-party will be held from 10-11:30 p.m. with desserts, coffee, ice cream, and a meet and greet with band members at the store.
