Club to start kindergarten program in fall

SHELTON - The Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley is starting a Kindergarten Program for the 2013-2014 school year.
The program is open to all kindergarteners, and bus transportation will be provided for all Shelton members both to and from school.
Care4Kids will be accepted for the Kindergarten Program. Registration for the Kindergarten program opens July 1 for the after school year.
Run by head teacher Lindsay Hubbell, the program will offer children daily opportunities to:
  •        Develop fine motor skills through the use of manipulative toys and art projects; 
  •         Develop gross motor skills through a variety of recreational games and sports; 
  •          Participate in dramatic play and arts, developing and challenging imaginations;
  •        Be constructively engaged with other children and adult staff in a fun and positive      environment; 
  •       Enhance math, literacy, and critical-thinking skills


The program opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. Children may attend as few as three hours a day or as many as eight hours a day, before school and after school.
For morning kindergarten students, Shelton school buses will pick children up at the Clubhouse and bring them to school. Buses will also pick children up from Shelton schools and bring them to the Clubhouse, both at noon and at the end of the full school day.
The Boys and Girls Club will provide a nutritious snack and lunch before sending children to school or lunch and a snack when they arrive after their school day is over.


There is a $15 registration fee. Monthly rates are $200/month for up to three hours a day, five days a week; $350/month for up to six hours a day, five days a week; or $450/month for up to eight hours a day, five days a week.
