Legion Post 10 to hold memorial at Shelton church

The Four Chaplains

SHELTON - The saga of The Four Chaplains will be memorialized at a service at 7 p.m. Feb. 3 at St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Court.

Members of Emil Senger Post 10, American Legion, of Seymour will present the service.

The service will honor those four men of God who sacrificed their lives aboard the USAT Dorchester on that fateful night of Feb. 3, 1943. They were all U.S. Army chaplains.

The ship was sunk by a torpedo from a German U-boat.

Come join us to honor their courageous actions and their unwavering duty to God and country when without regard for themselves they gave away their own life jackets to save others on deck that frigid winter night.

Light refreshments will be served in the church hall.

For more information contact Post 10 Commander Mike Kearney, 203-888-7813.

The service is open to the public.

This is a press release from Post 10 Commander Mike Kearney of Seymour.
