Gentile chosen to attend leadership seminar

State Rep. Linda M. Gentile, D-Ansonia, has been chosen by the Robert J. Thompson Eastern Leadership Academy to attend their 2012 four-day seminar at the end of the month at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
The Leadership Academy is designed for legislative, executive and judicial officials in the mid stage of their government careers.
Gentile will hone her leadership skills with other talented and high achieving state officials.
The event is sponsored by the Council of State Governments Eastern Regional Conference and the Penn Fels Institute of Government.
“I am so humbled to be chosen as one of only 30 individuals in the country to attend this comprehensive fellowship training program,” Gentile said.  “I look forward to the challenge of learning new skills and expanding my professional network so that I may better serve my constituents.”
Esteemed faculty from the Wharton School of Business and Annenberg Public Policy Center will conduct interactive discussions on:
  • Developing Leadership Skills through a series of workshops ranging from consensus-building to media relations.
  • Improving Understanding of Key Public Policies by focusing on analyzing programs, evaluating information and communicating with constituents and colleagues
  • Networking with the Best and Brightest and sharing experiences
“Rep. Gentile’s accomplishments and commitment to public service make her an ideal candidate for this program,” said VĂ©ronique M. Cavaillier, Senior Policy Analyst with CSG. “Her dedication to improving government institutions and respect for state government played a key role in bestowing the fellow.”
The Eastern Leadership Academy was named after Sen. Robert J. Thompson of Pennsylvania, a founding member of the academy and a respected local and state government leader, whose career was a model of personal and professional integrity, optimism and humility.
