ANSONIA – Joseph Dobbins, the new principal of Ansonia High School, has been appointed the Title IX Coordinator for Ansonia Public Schools.
Dobbins’ duties include informing students, parents, employees and the general public that all vocational opportunities are offered regardless of race, color, national origin, sex or disability.
Dobbins will uphold the Ansonia Board of Education Affirmative Action Policy to ensure that students and employees are not discriminated on the basis of racial origin, color, religious beliefs or associations, national origin, sex, or disability in any of its vocational education programs or regular academic activities.
The following vocational courses will be offered by the Career and Technical Education Department during the 2012-2013 school year. (Note: Those with asterisks indicate a prerequisite needed to take the course):
Business Computer Applications*, Computer Applications I, Computer Applications II*, Consumer Economics, Culinary I, Culinary II*, Entrepreneurship, Graphic Arts: Digital Darkroom, HCC CCP Accounting*, HCC CCP Marketing*, International Foods*, Introduction to Engineering Design, Life Coach Assistant*, Life Skills, Personal Finance*, Pre-Vocational Education, Principles of Engineering, Stepping Out, Technology Education II/Construction*, Video Production, and Vocational Coach Assistant. HCC CCP courses are dual credit courses run in collaboration with Housatonic Community College.
To receive college credit, students must pass the final exam and the course with a grade of “C” or better.
