Kiki is happy to be back home. |
Maggie Solsbury said the family’s feline has been missing for more than two years.
She said today when she returned home from work Saturday she thought she was “hallucinating” when she saw a black cat that looked like Kiki hobbling down the neighbor’s steps.
“I called my kids on the phone (to come outside),” Solsbury said. “You should have seen their faces. They still don’t believe she came back.”
Solsbury said Kiki’s return was "a great Mothers Day present."
About the time Kiki went missing a neighbor told her a dog had attacked a cat in the neighborhood.
“We had just assumed she was dead,” Solsbury said. “We don’t know where she has been.”
Kiki looks good and seems healthy, although she is missing her right front paw. Solsbury said they will be bringing her to the vet to have her checked.
“She is so happy to be home,” Solsbury said. “When she falls asleep she needs to have one paw touching somebody.”
When she got back into the house Kiki went into her son’s room and then into her daughter’s room, Solsbury said. “She knew she was home.”
Solsbury said on Saturday she had asked her late mother “to show me a sign.” Her mother died in 1985.
Solsbury said she believes Kiki’s return “is a miracle, and a sign from my mother that everything is going to be OK.”
She also said the cat’s homecoming has restored her hope and her fight.
She and her family have had more than their share of problems since her husband, Keith Solsbury, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2006. He has been battling the disease and is no longer able to work.

What a beautiful story. It is believed that cats do find their way home. Your family is once again together.
What a great story.
Here's to Kiki, one lucky kitty
Wow. What a great story. Amazing that Kiki was gone that long and finally came home!
My prayers and good luck to the Solsburys.
I am a cat person so I loved this story. It is amazing what memories these cats have and can find their way back home, especially after two years. I am so happy you have her back.
Wonderful story! My thoughts are with the Solsbury family, especially Mr. Solsbury!
