Human Relations Club works to end bullying, prejudice
ANSONIA - The Ansonia High School Human Relations Club has been awarded a two-year $28,000 grant from the Valley Community Foundation.
Jamie Cohen, President of the VCF, announced the award this week and praised the efforts of the Human Relations Club and its many programs in the area of diversity and prejudice reduction.
Nick Collicelli, the founder and advisor of the Human Relations Club, said he was thrilled to see the important HRC efforts once again supported and validated by the Valley Community Foundation.
The grant will support the work of the Human Relations Clubs at both the high school and middle school levels.
Projects include the Middle School Anti-Bullying program, Elementary Education Prejudice Reduction Program at Mead and Prendergast elementary schools, the Ansonia Middle School Culture Day, and the continued inter-generational work with members of the Joseph A. Doyle Senior Center.
A diversity conference which will be open to the entire Valley is planned for later this school year.
