“ I encourage all residents and others who would like to
learn or just take a refresher course on the basics of fishing to enjoy the
great outdoors and to take advantage of this unique opportunity,”
Cassetti said.
Ansonia's Recreation Department is sponsoring the
Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Connecticut Aquatic
Resources Education Program.
This is a chance for families to come together,
learn, and enjoy a fishing experience. This gives people between the ages of seven
years old and up an opportunity to learn about Connecticut Waters, fish
identifications, how and where fish live, fishing techniques, laws and
regulations, tying a strong knot, and how to cook your catch as well as many
other interesting facts.
This two-day program will be held at the Ansonia Armory on State Street May 22 between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.
A fishing trip will be held May 24 at Abe Stone Park where the lessons learned May 22 will be put to use hands on in the class. The class will be held at Colony Pond between 8 a.m. and noon. All equipment will be provided.
