Festival in Ansonia to feature health screenings, wellness info, tag sale

'Cool on South Cliff' event slated


ANSONIA - South Cliff Street will be the place to be from 8 a.m.to 2 p.m. May 17 as the Valley  Parish Nurse Program at First Congregational Church of Ansonia, 44 South Cliff St., sponsors a wellness fair.


There will be a huge tag sale held at neighboring Christ Episcopal Church, 56 S. Cliff St.
In addition, the Friends of the Ansonia Library will hold a book fair. The library is at 53 S. Cliff St.

Everyone is invited to come and interact with local health fair vendors: Griffin Hospital's health screening van will be there; Griffin Pharmacy staff will discuss pharmacy programs; Visiting Nurse Services of Southern Connecticut will provide information about health care at home; the YMCA in Ansonia will offer information  about adult Silver Sneakers and wellness programs as well as children’s day camp and other programs for youth.

Also TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) will offer nutritional information and support; Bankers Life and Casualty representatives will be there to discuss insurance needs including long-term care; and there will be physical  therapists on hand providing balance assessments and exercise demonstrations.
