The annual
memorial service held to honor Valley veterans who died in the past year will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the Derby
High School auditorium, 6 Nutmeg Ave.
Hurliman said a parking ban will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday for the Shelton-Derby Memorial Parade.
He said Derby has a similar parking ban along the route. The parade starts at 9 a.m. in Shelton.
The line of
march will step off at Howe Avenue and Wharf Street. It will take a
right on Kneen Street, a right on Coram Avenue, a right on White Street, a
right on Howe Avenue, and a left on Bridge Street.
Hurliman
said marchers will stop on the bridge for a brief ceremony to toss a wreath
into the Housatonic River in memory of all veterans lost at sea.
The parade
re-forms on the bridge, takes a right on Main Street, Derby, and a left on Elizabeth Street. It
continues past the reviewing stand in front of the Derby Green and ends at
Cottage Street.
