Pride, excitement highlight Ansonia ceremony

Graduation always means cheers, and some tears

It's that time of year again in the Valley.

Hundreds of high school seniors are receiving their diplomas this month and being sent out into the world of work or higher education.

It's a time for parents to be proud, and maybe a little sad as they reflect on the swift passage of time.

Ansonia High School was the first area school to hold its commencement.

I was there last evening in the crowded AHS gym, filled with excited students and proud families and friends.
Members of the AHS Class of 2012 file into the gym.

I was reminded of my own children's graduations from AHS in ceremonies at Jarvis Field, in 2006 and 2008.

Time does have a way of passing us by.

In 2006 a rainbow appeared at the conclusion of the ceremony. I have a photo of my daughter with the rainbow above her. That must be a good luck sign!

What do you remember about your high school graduation? Or those of your children?

We'd love to hear from you.
