Seymour police earn plaudits

Ceremony honors those who protect and serve
Officer of the Year Sgt. Stephen Prajer

SEYMOUR - Wednesday night’s awards ceremony honoring Seymour officers who go above and beyond the call of duty was a reminder that officers really do put their lives on the line each and every day.

The second annual event held at the middle school highlighted a variety of dangerous situations in which law enforcement had to take quick action to protect citizens.

The officers’ family members also received recognition for their constant support. I’m sure it’s not easy for wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, and all who care about the officers to live with the uncertainty of what each shift might bring.

First Selectman Kurt Miller said he was humbled to be standing there among  the honorees. “It takes a great deal of  courage to put your life on the line day in and day out,” he said.

    I couldn’t agree more.
