Ansonia aldermen could have last word on budget

ANSONIA — Alderman John Marini thinks it’s time for the aldermen and taxpayers to have more voice in the budget process.
A resolution that alters the way in which the budget is adopted will be present by Marini at a 7 p.m. Tuesday Board of Aldermen meeting in City Hall.
The Board of Apportionment and Taxation has the final say on the budget. The aldermen propose and approve a budget each February, but it’s the tax board that decides the budget each May.
Marini believes the aldermen, who are elected, rather than the tax board, which is appointed, need more participation.
