SEYMOUR — The town is giving the owner of the burned-out, former Housatonic Wire Co. an ultimatum: Finish demolishing the eyesore or face hefty fines, or even jail time.
Town Building Inspector Joseph Raiola sent property owner Alex Budzinski a letter Feb. 29, stating 109 River St. is “unsafe,” and until he complies with Raiola’s orders, the town will not issue him a permit. Raiola told Budzinski if he failed to start the work within seven days, he could face a $500 fine, up to six months in jail, or both.
