SEYMOUR — Comments made by Superintendent of Schools MaryAnne Mascolo about residents who had applied for jobs in the past have prompted her to issue a letter of apology to the Board of Education.
Mascolo said when she called references for job-seekers, whom she felt pressured to hire, she found Seymour people were “aggressive,” “liars” and “lazy,” and “their work was shabby,” a board member confirmed Wednesday.
Her comments were made during a Feb. 6 public meeting of the Board of Education, the member said.
Mascolo, in an email Wednesday, said she had not been referring to any town teachers.
