DERBY — Mayor Anthony Staffieri has proposed naming the revitalized recreational area on O’Sullivan’s Island after a Valley legend.
In a speech to the Board of Aldermen at City Hall on Jan. 26, Staffieri honored the late photojournalist Edward J. Cotter Jr., who was laid to rest that same day.
Cotter, a lifelong resident, died Jan. 21 at the age of 91.
He was not only a photojournalist but a co-founder of Storm Ambulance Corps and a former fire chief, fire commissioner and civil defense director.
