ANSONIA — Police are investigating the alleged theft of “a lot” of money from John G. Prendergast School’s Parent Teacher Organization, a police source said Wednesday.
According to the source, a preliminary investigation shows that “a lot of money” is missing from the PTO fund. Police are currently checking into the PTO’s financial records, and poring over numerous documents relating to PTO activities.
Superintendent of Schools Carol Merlone would not confirm that money is missing, but said “if it did take place, it would be in the hands of the police
