DERBY – Housatonic Council Boy Scouts of America recently recognized 21 Scouts from Ansonia, Derby, Shelton, Seymour and Oxford for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
The Eagle Scouts provided a valuable contribution to the community by leading Scouts and friends on more than 5,000 hours of community service.
Also honoring the Scouts were Derby Elks Lodge 571, represented by Exalted Ruler Jerry Coolidge and Lecturing Knight Margaret Maillet as well as The Military Order from the World Wars New Haven Chapter, on behalf of Walter Nizgorski, Army, Ret.
Keynote speaker was Charles Stankye III, an Eagle Scout and the current Chairman of the Housatonic Council Camping Committee.
Only 5 percent of all Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle.
