Checking out all the pink

In support of Seymour Pink, Inc. and breast cancer awareness

SEYMOUR - Downtown was filled with pink balloons and pink decor today as my colleague Jean Falbo-Sosnovich and I visited to see how Seymour Pink Day was being celebrated.

She covered the event for the newspaper; I tagged along because, as a breast-cancer survivor, I am into all things pink, as well as the wearin’ of the pink. Fortunately for me I've always liked the color!

First stop was Town Hall and the beautifully decorated entranceway.

Next we headed down First Street and met Cindy Boladz, owner of Cindy's Hair Co., 31 First St.

She said she was getting ready for the Apple Harvest Festival to be held downtown from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Saturday. She showed us a champagne cork pumpkin she created for the festival.

Frank Mason of Waterbury holds the unusual pumpkin decoration.

At 16 Bank St. we visited Tea with Tracy, a tearoom filled with appetizing goodies. Owner Tracy Tenpenny of Ansonia had baked pink sugar cookies to celebrate the day.

Across the way at 5 Bank St. we saw pink balloons reflected in the shop window at The Mad Hatter Boutique.

And around the corner we spied some more pink balloons and breast cancer awareness ribbons decorating the windows at Invent Hair Salon, 139 Main St. on the corner of Bank Street.

These were just some of the places that went pink Wednesday. And it was wonderful to see the business owners' participation in raising awareness.

Stay tuned tomorrow for a few more photos of Seymour going pink.
