DeLeon had been an active Club member in her youth and was the Club’s 2005 Youth of the Year. Her career with the Club began as a part-time counselor, and she used her creativity and hard work to provide members with quality programs and activities.
Most recently, she has been serving as the Program Director for the six and seven-year old program.
DeLeon's new responsibilities will continue to include the 6&7s program, as well as the Immersion Science program.
She will also be the advisor to the Torch Club and the Keystone Club, as well as being in charge of teen programs.
DeLeon will continue to be responsible for providing homework help, crafts, sports, and special events throughout the school year for all 6 and 7-year olds.
She will also introduce Club members in grades 5-8 to the world of marine science through the Club's Immersion Science program. This fun and powerful program was founded by famed oceanographer and explorer Dr. Robert Ballard.
DeLeon went through extensive Immersion Science training as a Club member, and traveled to Greece with Ballard in 2005 to participate in marine science exploration.
As the advisor for the Torch Club, she will advise youth ages 11-13 in this leadership development program. She will assist members in designing their own activities and community service project. The Keystone Club is also a youth leadership group for older youth, ages 14-18.
Members participate in regional and national Keystone conferences, community projects, and assist with special events for other Club members.
DeLeon is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University.
