Hospital to host heart fair

DERBY -  Griffin Hospital will host a free Heart Health Fair from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital, 350 Seymour Ave., to help individuals find out if they and/or their loved ones are heart healthy.
The fair will feature presentations by medical experts on pacemakers and AICDs, the long-term cardiac effects of radiation and chemotherapy, acupuncture, and heart health.

There will also be information and demonstrations on services and programs offered at Griffin Hospital. They include: blood pressure screening; cardiac risk screening; stroke assessments; sleep apnea screening; body composition; nutrition; stress reduction through guided imagery; massage; exercise demonstrations; congestive heart failure.
Also, Echocardiogram (ECHO) heart test demonstration; Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP); the psychosocial aspects of cardiac disease; CPR certification; healthy recipes and refreshments; Wii fit; fall prevention; Tai Chi; survivorship program; relaxation; energy conservation; and pet therapy.
