Crisco greets a constituent Thursday at Warsaw Park, Ansonia. |
State Sen. Joseph J. Crisco, Jr., D-Woodbridge, Thursday hosted hundreds of area residents at the 2012 edition of his annual Senior Fair.
The event is held at Warsaw Park in Ansonia; senior citizens from throughout the 17th District are invited to attend and participate.
Crisco
has hosted a senior fair every year since he was first elected in
1992. His prototype is now used for comparable exhibitions in many
other parts of the state. Thursday’s event attracted more than 300 people;
nearly 50 vendors were on hand to showcase programs,
products, and services they direct toward older residents.
“The participation of these vendors each year is a
tremendous public service to seniors throughout my district, because it
helps match senior citizens with information about so many vitally
important areas like healthcare and nutrition, personal
finances and insurance, and public safety and home security,” Crisco said. “It’s also worth noting that all three
levels of government – federal, state, and municipal – are represented
at this senior fair each year to help make senior citizens aware of the
government programs and services available to them.”
“There is no substitute for the face-to-face contact
provided by this senior fair; vendors routinely describe the pleasure
they take interacting on a personal level with senior citizens at this
event,”
Crisco said.
“This Fair has repeatedly served the best interests of 17th
District seniors and has proven itself time and again as a most
effective outreach tool, matching products
and information about state and local services, programs, and
activities with those for whom they are intended and who can best use
the information.”
“We’ve had such an enthusiastic response to this
event over the years – I look forward to greeting so many longstanding
friends and regular attendees every time we get together,” Crisco said.
