ANSONIA — Dozens of teachers were in the audience of about 160 at Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s town hall meeting on his education reform package, and they were not afraid to express their keen interest in what he had to say.
Several disputed the governor’s information, and one wanted a formal apology from Malloy.
Jennifer Drury, who teaches English at Career High School in New Haven, had stood outside Ansonia High School before Thursday night’s meeting with a sign that read:
“Governor, I just showed up. Now What?”
She said she was quoting Malloy, who in his State of the State Address this winter, said teachers just need to show up for the first four years to get tenure.
