SEYMOUR — Seymour High School’s cheerleaders have something to shout about, having been named 2012’s New England regional champions.
The 22-member squad competed against 10 squads, nabbing first place in the Division IV Regional Championship in March in Lawrence, Mass. This is the first year Seymour has won at the regionals.
On Tuesday, the girls and their coaches were honored by the Board of Selectmen, and also received a special proclamation on their achievement by state Rep. Len Greene Jr., on behalf of the local state delegation.
You really did a great job and you are a source of pride for the town of Seymour and for the entire Valley,” Greene said before a standing room only crowd who packed Town Hall to celebrate the girls’ victory.
“Your dedication and commitment to being the spirit of Seymour has brought recognition and pride to our school.”
