SEYMOUR — A dozen young athletes spent more than an hour Thursday afternoon designing their ideal skate/BMX park.
Under the guidance of Kanten Russell and Mike McIntyre of Action Sport Design, Carlsbad, Calif., the teens worked in groups with pencils and grid paper to lay out the half-pipes, box jumps, and other features they’d like to see.
They referred frequently to three designs Russell and McIntyre brought with them for the meeting in the Seymour Middle School cafeteria.
The input doesn’t stop there. The youths have another week to submit ideas online to Action Sport. In two weeks, the company will present three concepts to the youths and Skate Park Commission.
