All-American Valley General Store congratulates 'The Voice' contestant Sawyer Fredericks

The All-American Valley General Store is happy to announce that Sawyer Fredericks, who had his CD Release Party here a little over a year ago — has made it on this season's T.V. show "The Voice." Sawyer premiered a couple weeks ago on NBC's show with his version of "Man of Constant Sorrow" and immediately got a four chair turn by the judges. The judges this year are Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams. After the judges battled it out, Sawyer picked Pharrell to be his coach. Sawyer's rendition of the song has made it to #8 on The Billboard Charts.

Sawyer is originally from Connecticut, and now lives upstate on a farm in New York. His father came into The General Store during a Wednesday Open Mic, and said that his son is a singer/songwriter who just made a CD — and they were looking for a place to have a CD release party. The General Store seemed like a great match, because both families are farmers. Since the release party, Sawyer has continued to play at local farmer's markets.

We are so proud of Sawyer here at The All-American Valley General Store. We are happy to provide a stage for artists and musicians to share their talents. We have acoustic open mic every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m., and have a live radio show called The All-American Valley Home Companion Show every Saturday that can be listened to on Connecticut World Service Radio: ct.wsr.com
We are always looking for new musicians to feature, and press kits can be mailed to The All-American Valley General Store - 16 Bank St. - Seymour, CT 06483. Phone 203-828-6442.

Be sure to watch The Voice on NBC and vote for Sawyer Fredericks!

“Their eclectic, well-arranged music is really anything but “too blue” because they convey many moods, and abundant amounts of soul and emotion…I’d highly recommend you get on-board their train to check out their tasty swing-grass music.” -Joe Ross, California Bluegrass Assoc.

“Smooth harmonies, adventurous musicianship, and eclectic material… Ah, music for grown-ups.” -Eric Gibson, The Gibson Brothers (IBMA 2011 award winners)

“Too Blue is a fantastic band with great singing, great picking and large dollops of creativity. The album features beautifully clean production values and the sound is always fresh. I was impressed. I think you will be too.” -Tony Trischka, Grammy nominated banjo legend

Seymour store to host songwriter prodigy's CD release party

Farmer's Feast supper slated Saturday
SEYMOUR - “Farmer Kim” Dulka, proprietor of the All-American Valley General Store and fourth generation grower at the town’s Red Clover Farms, will be having Sawyer Fredericks over for supper Saturday.

All-American Valley General Store

That's when the young singer-songwriter prodigy will host a release party for his first full-length CD, Out My Window, in concert with the evening’s “Farm to Table” 5-Course Farmer’s Feast.

The event is the store’s summer Saturdays fete to support local growers by gathering folks for a supper prepared from ingredients from area farms and dairies.

Sawyer Fredericks, a 14 year-old songwriter prodigy and country crooner, lives on Windrake Farm, his family’s farm south of Fultonville, NY.
He learned to play guitar at 10, and began writing his own songs one year later.
He recently recorded his first full-length CD, Out My Window, with the title song one of 15 original tracks featured on the release, recorded at Jeffrey Britton’s studio in Glen Falls, NY.
Fredericks has promoted the debut recordings at Happy Jacks Café at the Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market in Gloversville, N.Y. and at Goorin Bros., the hat shop where he bought his motif black bowler on Bleeker Street in Gotham’s West Village.

His Connecticut release party at the All American Valley General Store is simply “organic” as he is kindred with Dulka’s history and home on her family farm, as well as her own journey as a country musician.

Fredericks will perform at Saturday's 13 “Farm to Table” feast and autograph copies of his debut CD at the event.
If you can’t make it to the General Store, CDs will soon be available for purchase via CDBaby.com and iTunes.
Copies may be ordered from his family by sending $20 plus $3 shipping to Sawyer Fredericks, P.O. Box 98, Fultonville, N.Y. 12072.

An Evening with Sawyer / CD Release Party Menu:
1. Red Cabbage Slaw 2. Grilled Corn & Mango Salad 3. Buttermilk Herbed Chicken 4. Orzo with Roasted Summer Garden Vegetables  5. Chocolate Cake with Buttercream Frosting

The farmer’s feast supper seats from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Cost is $25 per person.

The Red Clover Café menu of sandwiches, soups, salads and paninis is also available and patrons are also invited to enjoy the outdoor porch, patio and herb garden.
The store is open during the event, where diners can browse or buy produce, maple products, chocolates, organic soaps fresh spun alpaca yarn and more, all procured from local growers and artisans.
Reservations are strongly recommended; call 203-828-6442.

Seymour store to serve farm feasts on summer Saturdays

Seymour resident Kim Dulka is seen in her store in this 2012 file photo. Patricia Villers/Register

SEYMOUR - Join “Farmer Kim” Dulka and the gang on Saturday evenings this summer at The All-American Valley General Store – for their five-course “Farm to Table” Farmer’s Feast.

The fixed menu fete – served for $25 a person - is dished up from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and features courses using fresh produce and dairy products from local farms and growers. The store is at 16 Bank St., Suite 140.

Live entertainment sets the meal to music as the Farmer’s Feast – like Wednesday’s “Open Mic” – are attracting country, bluegrass, and classic acoustic folk and rock musicians from all over Connecticut.

The dining room is both quaint and cozy. Reservations are strongly recommended.  The outdoor porch and patio are open, so enjoy a summer evening breeze from an antique rocker or pull up a bench or Adirondack chair around the herb garden and set for awhile.

All Connecticut-made items
If the Farm Feast dessert doesn’t satisfy your sweet tooth, choose from a selection of local ice cream, or indulge in Waterbury’s famous Fascia’s Chocolates, or maple sugar candy from Lamothe’s Sugar House in Burlington.
Between courses, browse wares from local artisans: from antique glassware to goat's milk soaps to organic lotions to yarns spun from local Alpaca.
It’s all grown, churned, milled, made or discovered in Connecticut.

Kim Dulka opened The All-American Valley General Store in December 2011. She is a fourth-generation farmer in Seymour. Vegetables, flowers and Christmas trees are grown and harvested at Red Clover Farms, which has been in Dulka's family since 1915.

The store also offers a knitting night and workshops on everything from farming healing herbs to hosting rustic bridal showers.

Dulka says of her endeavor it is “everything Connecticut.”
