Exercise Class at Linett Park

Seymour Rec to offer yoga, Zumba classes

SEYMOUR >> The Seymour Recreation Department will be sponsoring yoga and Zumba classes beginning this month.

Zumba classes will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Bungay School gym, 35 Bungay Road.
The first class begins Jan. 13. Classes run through March 5 and are open to those ages 14 and older.
Drop-ins are welcome, and residents from surrounding towns may attend.

The first class is free, and the rate for one night per week is $40 or both nights $65.
Both figures represent the total cost for the two-month program.
The instructor is Amanda Hynes.
Registration can be done by calling the Recreation Department, 203-888-0406 or go directly to gym on first night.
Yoga classes for adults will begin Jan. 15. Classes will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Seymour Recreation Department, 20 Pine St.
The session is six weeks long and costs $75.

Zumbathon benefit planned in Oxford

OXFORD - A Zumbathon to raise funds for two Seymour-based non-profit organizations will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 11 at Colonial Tavern, 24 Hawley Road.

The event benefits Connecticut Partnership for Children's Diaper Bank and the Emil Senger Post 10, American Legion.

The veterans will lead a moment of silence to honor those who lost their lives in the terror attacks on 9/11.

Proceeds include $10 entry fee, T-shirt sales, 50/50 raffle, bottled water sales, and donations. 

Come out and support the veterans and the children!

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the event begins at 6:30 p.m.

Seymour Rec to offer basketball, Zumba, chess

SEYMOUR - The Seymour Recreation Department is offering three upcoming activities:

Men’s Over 30 Basketball Pick-up Game nights will begin Feb. 13 from 7-9  p.m. at Bungay School gym.
All interested people must pre-register at the Seymour Recreation Department office.

The program, for Seymour residents only, will run for eight weeks. Cost is $25.

Zumba class
A Level I Zumba Class will start March 4 and run for six weeks. Class time is 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Bungay School gym.
Ages 14 and up are encouraged to attend.
 Cost is $40 per person,  $70 for two people from same family and $10 for a one night drop-in.

Anyone from surrounding Valley towns is welcomed. To register call the Seymour Recreation Department,  203-888-0406.


Youth chess
A Co-ed Youth Chess Class for grades 2 through 6 will begin March 5 and run for six weeks.
Class time is from 4-5 p.m. at the Seymour Recreation Department classrooms. Cost is $40 per child. No experience necessary and all equipment will be provided by instructor.
