Derby High students to attend Boys, Girls State at ECSU

The American Legion Boy’s State and American Legion Auxiliary Laurel Girl’s State program is being held at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic this month.

These programs provide an opportunity for students to learn about the democratic process by forming their own party, establishing a party platform and electing city, town, and state officials. 
This is a great experience for students interested in government.

Veterans present American flag to Doyle Senior Center in Ansonia

John H. Collins Post 24 American Legion in Derby Commander Erwin "Gus" Williams, center, Thursday presents the American flag to Mary Deptula, Director of the Doyle Senior Center in Ansonia. Looking on is Post 24 Chaplain James Hubbard. The presentation was made at a weekly luncheon. The flag at the senior center was no longer serviceable, veterans said. The new one will stand next to the front desk at the entrance, Deptula said.

Derby students selected for Boys, Girls State

DERBY - The American Legion Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Laurel Girls State program is being held at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic in June.
