Drumming, video game tourney slated at Derby Neck Library

DERBY - Drum away the winter and welcome spring at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Derby Neck Library. 
Craig Harris performs and helps people of all ages get stress relief, while teaching the audience about percussion instruments. 
No registration is needed.  

Video tournament
From 2-4 p.m. April 26 teens and 'tweens are invited to a video games tournament at the Library, featuring New Super Mario Bros. U on a Nintendo Wii U. 
Free refreshments will be served.

Ansonia nature center to host drumming circle

To celebrate summer solstice
ANSONIA - Join Ranger Dawn Sotir and her celebratory percussionists at 7 p.m. Saturday as they herald the new season around the fire pit at the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center.

The free event is for adults and children 12 years and older.

In lieu of a program fee, participants are asked to donate a canned food item for a local homeless shelter. Registration is requested; call 203-736-1053.

The nature center is at 10 Deerfield Road.

 

Worship to feature drumming circle at Seymour church

SEYMOUR - Great Hill United Methodist Church invites the community to a Contemporary Worship Service June 29.

A drumming circle will be held at 3:30 p.m. followed by worship at 4 p.m.

           This is a “Come As You Are, Come Where You Are” Service.
           Let’s explore how we can reconnect with God’s rhythm.
          Drumming Circle:  Feel the Spirit as we join hands and hearts in rhythm together.
          (Bring your percussion instruments: drums, rhythm sticks, tambourines, maracas…)

Center to hold spring equinox drumming circle, hike

ANSONIA -  Join Ranger Dawn at 6 p.m. March 23 at the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center's pavilion to wake up the earth gently by making music together by the fire.
Bring your own percussion instrument or one you have made from recycled materials.

Adults and children over 12  are welcome. Registration requested; call 203-736-1053. Admission is a canned good to be donated to the food bank at Spooner House in Shelton.

Hike by moonlight

Also on March 23, join Rangers Martin and Wendy at 7 p.m. for a guided moonlight night hike designed for all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Hike nature center trails by the light of the moon using night vision and other senses. Learn why the March full moon is called a "worm moon."
