Star-Studded Gala



DERBY - The 2019 Griffin Health Gala Oct. 11 will be a star-studded event as top celebrity impersonators from Las Vegas bring glitz and glam to Aria in Prospect.
The event will run from 6:30-11:30 p.m.

Master Impersonators, The Edwards Twins, will present An Evening with the Stars, a rollicking live performance of musical hits from legendary musical superstars. 
The Edwards Twins have performed all over the world and received rave reviews from national media, including the NBC Today show, USA Today and The Boston Globe.
Guests will also be treated to exquisite dining to match Aria’s delightfully manicured and sculpted gardens, and breathtaking scenic views of autumn in Connecticut.

The evening closes out with dancing to the invigorating and eclectic sounds of La Blanc Entertainment. There will also be a silent auction for guests to bid on exciting items, fabulous experiences, and one-of-a-kind memorabilia.

Tickets start at $195 per person. Black tie is suggested.

Proceeds from the Gala will help develop and sustain essential programs and services that address the wide-ranging health care needs of the communities Griffin serves ensuring access to innovative, high-quality care in a healing, person-centered environment.

The Friend A. Russ Fund will be honored with the 2019 Presidents Award at the Gala.

Black Tie Benefit Planned


DERBY - The 2017 Griffin Hospital Gala will be a night to remember with lavish food, unique auction items, and upbeat music and dancing on Oct. 13 from 7 – 11:30 p.m. at Aria, 45 Murphy Road in Prospect.
 
Guests will be treated to exquisite dining and first-rate entertainment to match Aria’s delightfully manicured and sculpted gardens, and breathtaking scenic views of autumn in Connecticut. A customized dinner will be served accompanied with live music.
 
The evening closes out with dancing to the energetic, Latin-inspired sounds and funky beats of the 10-piece band, Sugar. There will also be a silent auction for guests to bid on exciting prizes, including vacations and one-of-a-kind memorabilia.
 
Tickets start at $185 per person. Black tie is suggested.
 
Proceeds will fund the expansion of Griffin’s radiation therapy capabilities, including the introduction of radiosurgery and other leading-edge technological advances.

Cultural Commission to host 11th annual reunion in Ansonia

Event is for alumni from all decades
ANSONIA - The city's Cultural Commission is sponsoring its 11th Annual AHS/PHS (Ansonia High and Pine High Schools) All Decades Reunion Aug. 23 at Molto Bene Italian Kitchen, 557 Wakelee Ave. (formerly Rapp's Paradise Inn).
The festivities start at 6 p.m. in the banquet room.

All former classmates are invited to attend and the price is $25 per person,which includes a three-entree buffet featuring fish, chicken, and roast beef, vegetables, and dessert. There will be a cash bar.

Local DJ Phyllis Kaplan is planning a complete music trip down "Memory Lane" for all the decades. Be sure to wear your dancing shoes.

After dinner, classmates are invited to join the activities and dance to the music of Stratford-based "That 80's Band."
No seating will be available as the band attracts a huge following.

There will be no cover charge to be a part of the patio scene.

Dancing, cooking on tap for kids at library

DERBY - The Derby Public Library invites children ages 3-6 with a caregiver to Rhythm Makers at 10 a.m. March 20. 

Maria Douglas of the Magic Storybook presents this high-energy event which will teach children to walk to Mr. Whole Note, dance to Mrs. Half Note and clap to Baby Quarter Note.

Participants will learn about rhythm and pitch through dance, instruments, ribbons and a lot of giggles. Space is limited.
     
Let's Cook!
The Library invites kids ages 7-11 to attend Let’s Cook! at 3:45 p.m. March 26.
Along with preparing a simple, no-bake recipe, kids also will learn some basic kitchen skills which includes measuring and following directions. 
Registration is requested for both of these programs.
