Adult ed slates classes in Valley, Monroe
Valley Regional Adult Education’s academic programs will begin the week of Jan. 28.
English as a Second
Language class helps students improve reading, writing and
speaking English. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 22 and 23 at the
Adult Learning Center in Shelton and at 6:30 p.m. at the
following sites: Derby High School, Seymour High School, Ansonia
Middle School, Masuk High School, Monroe and the Adult Learning Center in
Shelton.
GED class prepares
students in the areas of writing, reading, science, social studies, and
math for the state-administered GED exam. Registration is at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16
and 17 and at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 22 and 23
at the Adult Learning Center in Shelton.
Citizenship class teaches
American history and government in preparation for the citizenship test.
Registration is at 4 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Adult Learning Center, 415 Howe Ave.,
Shelton.
In-person registration is
required. There is no fee for any of the classes listed above. Limited
enrollment is on a first come, first served basis.
Student must be a
resident of Ansonia, Derby, Monroe, Seymour, or Shelton
to participate.

Valley adult education enrolling fall classes
The lifelong pursuit of knowledge and continued expansion of interests is said to be beneficial for both the mind and body.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, almost half of the adult population in the United States is enrolled in some form of lifelong learning.
Adults in the Valley can join this quest by earning a high school diploma or GED, learning English, improving computer skills or pursuing a personal interest through the many classes offered at Valley Regional Adult Education.

Adults in the Valley can join this quest by earning a high school diploma or GED, learning English, improving computer skills or pursuing a personal interest through the many classes offered at Valley Regional Adult Education.
Fall academic classes such as English as a Second Language, Citizenship and GED Preparation begin the week of Sept. 17 at locations in Shelton (daytime and evening programs), Derby, Monroe, Seymour, and Ansonia (evening programs). There is no fee. Limited enrollment is on a first come, first served basis.
Students must be residents of Ansonia, Derby, Monroe, Seymour or Shelton to participate. In person registration and orientation dates and details can be found at www.vrae.org.

Free adult education courses offered
SHELTON - Valley Regional Adult Education will offer continuing education courses this summer from July 11-Aug. 16.
English as a Second Language class will help students improve reading, writing and understand English.
GED class prepares
students in the areas of writing, reading, science, social studies and
math in order to take the state administered GED exam.
Both classes will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Adult
Learning Center, 415 Howe Ave. In-person registration
and orientation are July 10 from
9:30 to 11:30 a.m. July 10. There is no fee for either class.
Limited enrollment
is on a first come, first served basis. Students must be residents of
