Celebrate Shelton's Final Downtown Sounds Summer Concert

SHELTON - Celebrate Shelton and Liberty Bank are proud to sponsor the second annual “Downtown Sounds: Concert Series at Veterans Memorial Park" which has taken place the last two Fridays; and the final concert will be held this Friday August 5 from 5:00pm - 9:00pm.

"We will welcome handmade artisan vendors, a beer garden sponsored by Two Roads Brewing Company, and ​ food trucks for families to enjoy" said Nicole Heriot-Mikula, co-creator of Celebrate Shelton. 
 
Food trucks will include: Caseus Cheese Truck, Common Bond Market, Dad's Food Truck, Mama Dee's Italian Kitchen, Gypsy Joe Cafe, Pierogies on Wheels and Tipsy Ice Cream Cones.

"Starting at 5:00pm each night, there will be live music from sought-after local and regional bands," noted Michael Skrtic, another co-creator of Celebrate Shelton. For the final concert, the musical line-up includes: Frank Viele and West End Blend.
"We are thrilled to continue this free summer concert series in Downtown Shelton with live music, food and activities for families" said Jimmy Tickey who is also a co-creator of Celebrate Shelton. "We are looking forward to another successful summer concert series, and hope to see you there." Tickey said.
 
Downtown Sounds: Concert Series at Veterans Memorial Park is sponsored by Celebrate Shelton and Liberty Bank, with support from R.D. Scinto, City of Shelton, as well as The Valley Community Foundation, Electri-Cable Assemblies and Avalon Shelton.  Celebrate Shelton, a city-wide initiative, was created by small business owners - Nicole Heriot-Mikula, Michael Skrtic and Jimmy Tickey.

Celebrate Shelton announces Downtown Sounds Summer Concert Sseries

SHELTON >> Celebrate Shelton announces the Downtown Sounds Summer Concert Series taking place at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Shelton on Fridays: July 17, July 24 and Aug. 7 from 5-9 p.m.

The lineup of live music includes: Coley O’ Toole (of Queen Killing Kings) and The Wagon Riders (July 17), The Alpaca Gnomes and Hubinger St (July 24) and The What Up Funk Band (August 7).

Each night of the series will host rotating handmade artisans and food trucks as well as children’s activities and a beer garden.
Admission is FREE to the public, and free parking is in the parking lot for the Shelton Farmers Market Building and Conti Building (415 Howe Ave.).

Prudential is the Title Sponsor of Downtown Sounds: Summer Concert Series, with additional support from the Valley Community Foundation as well as other area businesses and organizations.

Celebrate Shelton was established to create community events that highlight small businesses including a monthly Downtown Handmade Market, seasonal Small Business Community Guide, and a Holiday Community Tree Lighting. In partnership with the City of Shelton, the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Shelton Economic Development Corporation, we have been able to make these events a success with hundreds of attendees – shining light on small businesses in our area and offering a unique place for community members to gather with their family and friends around fun activities.

Shelton's Downtown Handmade Market kicks off on Black Friday

SHELTON >> Celebrate Shelton, a city-wide initiative, begun by two small business owners, Michael Skrtic, owner of The Glass Source Studio, and Nicole Heriot-Mikula, owner of bringtheHoopla have joined together to form Celebrate Shelton, which will present 3 major events to highlight small business and the community which surrounds them: Downtown Handmade Market, Community Tree Lighting and the Small Business “Crawl” event guide.

Downtown Handmade Market, a 5-date vendor festival, will be held at the Conti Building on 415 Howe Ave., Shelton. A Black Friday Kick-Off celebration on Friday, Nov. 28 from 6-9 p.m. will be sponsored by Liquid Lunch and wine from Linda’s Liquors in Shelton. Celebration will include handmade artisan vendors, live music, hors d’oeuvres and a wine tasting. All vendors will feature a special offer during this kick-off event. Tickets are $5 at the door. Kids 14 and under are no cost.

The market continues on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 29 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Dec. 6, 13 and 20 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is free.

Community Tree Lighting sponsored by Webster Bank, Valley Community Foundation and Center Stage will be taking place on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Park, 83 Canal Street East, in Shelton. Caroling with Center Stage, hot cocoa and sweets by the Boys & Girls Club of LNV and Santa Claus will be there for everyone. A huge special thank you to Jones Family Farms and City of Shelton. All children are encouraged to create their own handmade ornaments to hang on the tree with their families on the evening of the lighting.

Our Small Business Crawl event guide is a 24 page glossy magazine that will include a special offer from all participating small businesses throughout the month of December. The goal is to encourage our community to shop local! Keep an eye out in Shelton for your very own guide.
