Ansonia to hold decorating contest, Christmas tree lighting
ANSONIA - The Cultural Commission and the Valley Arts Council are co-sponsoring the "Annual Yard and House" decorating contest again this year.
Applications are available at www.cityofansonia.com. They are also available at the Ansonia Library, 56 South Cliff St.
The deadline for applicants is Dec. 9 and judging will be held between Dec. 14-17. All entrants are asked to leave their lights on from 6-8 p.m. during that time frame.
Certificates will be awarded to all the winners at the Jan. 14 Board of Aldermen meeting.
The winners will be announced in area newspapers and on the city's website.
The Commission and the Valley Arts Council will be judging this event.
The firehouses are invited to participate in the contest.For information call Jim Little, 203-278-3414, or Judy L. Nicolari, 203-231-3603.
The annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Veterans Park next to City Hall on Main Street.
DJ Phyllis Kaplan will provide the music.
Hot chocolate, coffee and munchkins, donated by Dunkin' Donuts will be served.
Come and see Santa Claus make an appearance on a firetruck and make your Christmas wish on stage at Veterans Park.
Santa will be posing for photos and the Ansonia High School Chorus will be singing Christmas carols during the event.
